YouTooth

YouTooth is a location based dating application developed by Glimmer Design for YouTooth.

The application consists of an iPhone client and server application. The application provides the ability to set a profile where you can provide information about yourself, a picture from the camera or stored albums, and ways for other people on the YouTooth network to contact you. The application also supports private message sending between users, "bites" (similar to the Facebook "poke" concept), and relationship requests and authorisations to allow a user to have access to your more detailed profile. You can view other YouTooth users around you, and contact them with the private messaging functions, bites, and you can also request more contact details from them.

Technically the client application was developed in Objective-C on the iPhone. The server application was implemented in Ruby on Rails with the communications between the server and the client being based on JSON, implemented in a RESTful architecture. The geographic/spatial location searching is server powered, and uses a MySQL database to provide the geographic searching functions. The server is virtualised, allowing for easy and flexible scaling to grow with the customer base. The application was developed over a 3-4 month period, from concept to launch.

Glimmer Design provided the software design and development for the iPhone client, and the Ruby on Rails server. Hosting is also provided by Glimmer Design.

Graphic design was supplied by an external agency of the clients choice, and information architecture/layout was provided direct by the client.

Moving Van

As each box is packed, use this app to detail the contents, and assign each box with a unique name or number. If moving house, the room that the contents belong in can also be assigned. This will speed unloading and unpacking.

We all know that unpacking after moving house can be a long, slow process. With Moving Van, if need to find a specific item which is still not unpacked, you can simply search for that item and immediately identify the box you need to look in. Similarly, if you need to quickly remind yourself what is in each box, you can quickly view each box's content. This feature is important when putting boxes in long term storage, and can even be useful for insurance purposes. Additionally Moving Van allows you to take photos of the items as you pack them away.

Moving Van will take at least some of the hassle of your next house move away!

Woof! Woof!

Woof! Woof! is a novelty application that plays the sounds of dogs of various sizes barking. This app is available for free from the iTunes store.

First Serve

First Serve helps tennis umpires keep the score in a tennis match. It frees the umpire up to concentrate on the game play and calls, rather than having to remember the score, or when to change ends. First Serve is perfect for inter-club fixtures. This app is available from the iTunes store.

First Serve remembers the score between application launches, so if you close First Serve you can resume the match from where you left off. First Serve also remembers who the server is, and tells you when to change ends.

With support for 1, 3 or 5 set matches, singles or doubles, and tie breakers you'll never get the score wrong again.

First Serve features a professional scoreboard to make umpiring your game a pleasure.

First Serve is super easy to use - it takes only 3 taps of the screen in the application to get started. You simply choose the type of game (singles, doubles), the number of sets to play, enter the players names (optional), and you're ready to play.
